Happy Birthday Terry

We had another great weekend celebrating Terry's 57th birthday at Yogi Bear Campground. It was funny when I was at the grocery store stocking up on all we needed as I mentioned to the young cashier my husband's birthday. He asked how old Terry was and I told him. I could see in his eyes how old he thought that was. My first thought was that I too felt that way in my younger days but how fast the time has gone. If I would of told the young man to treasure the years as the go fast he would not be able to comprehend it-just as I at one time did not. At times it is hard for me to believe I went through childhood, teen years, married with babies...then young children....then teens and now "empty nesters". These years with young grandchildren so close around is so precious. It is an honor to see my children be such caring spouses and parents. The gravy time is here.

Yogi Bear is the perfect place to go with children. There is so much to do there that you would have to beg to get bored. Terry really loves camping. He has wonderful memories of childhood camping. Of course, how you can call it camping in a camper I don't know. We have cable, internet, bathroom, fridge, sink.....come on! I don't think he would be as crazy about it if we had a tent as we did in the old days. We took the kids camping as young children in a tent. I did not enjoy that although Terry loved having the boat.

I love how the kids will drive there for the day or rent a cabin. Michelle and mom were dedicated enough to rent one without a restroom as that was the only one they had available. ha! The boys went back to Houston so they wouldn't miss church. When you stay overnight there are activities you miss in the daytime. There was an outdoor movie and karioke going on that night. Usually we have a campside fire Terry loves to make but it was too windy this weekend. He did grill burgers outside on the pit which he really enjoys and they were so good.

Life is made up of memories. I love pictures because nothing preserves a memory like pictures! The pictures tell the story with details you might of forgot!! I've done a great job of marking the seasons of life with pictures. Pictures can be the milestone marking the Ebenezer moments of life. We should take the time to mark special moments to look back and see how God saw us through it all the way. :)

We took flowers and flags to put at the cemetary in honor of tomorrow-Memorial Day. We took them to my dad's grave site and dear friends Forest and Grace. We laughed on the way as when we saw the cemetary Colby said there is the Safari (he got the words mixed up). My dad was not in the services and I don't know if Forest was. We mainly went out there as we do often as a memorial to my dad and how he is never off our mind.

Mom loves the song My Brand New Home

If you’re awed by this world and all it’s beauty

Many stately mansions daily you may see

Without great wealth I know that I will never own one

And you will neither if you’re no more rich than me

But if your soul will look beyond what man is building

You will see what earthly mortals cannot see

On the other side of Jordan there’s construction

On a mansion being built just for me

Chorus

Just wait till you see my brand new home

Wait till you see its beauty rare

There’s nothing down here that can compare

Just wait till you see my brand new home

My Heavenly Father’s building me

And I’m gonna occupy for free

Just wait till you see my brand new home

My new home will not be set upon foundation

They are manmade and someday will pass away

It won’t be built where the storms of life can batter

And where rain clouds often hide the light of day

Oh, the cornerstone of God is my foundation

The Root of David, Christ the Lord our coming King

What a welcome and homecoming now awaits me

And I’m expecting any day to move right in

My Heavenly Father’s building me

And I’m gonna occupy for free

Just wait till you see my brand new home

To that I can't wait to see my dad's brand new home one day!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Dad

Each year it is especially satisfying to celebrate my dad's birthday. He has been through so many health issues yet God has blessed our family in so many ways since Dad is still with us. To this day we don't understand all the complexities of what is going on with his health but once again the important thing is that we had a fun time of celebration at their house last night. We all gathered together for an ice cream cake. It was a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and very good. I also spent the day with them running errands and really enjoyed it.

My dad is so full of life teasing everyone and totally enjoying his family. I noticed last night the big smile he had on his face as he watched his great grandchildren. I think he could sit all day and just watch them. He loves them to pieces. Nothing makes him smile bigger than them. The first thing he wants to know is how they are. Colby lights up dad's life with his exuberance for life. Dad loves how Melissa holds her own and how determined she is. William is the one he knows for sure will sit with him and watch TV.

Mom and Dad have had a good life but there have been good times and harder times. I so admire both of them because they never sit around and moan about how things are or have been. They appreciate that we are all close for each other and put their total trust in God. What an awesome example they are!

Happy Birthday Melissa Marie!

We have had a wonderful week celebrating Melissa's birthday. We started it off with a party for her last Saturday for family and friends. It is awesome we did it then since this weekend we are all just watching the weather to see if we wash away. It is so cute to see them at their first birthday party as everyone gathers around and sings them Happy Birthday. Keep in mind how many we have there for the first birthday. Melissa did an excellent job of smushing her little cake and really getting into it. I'm so disappointed that I cannot get the video I made of it to load on my blog. It is on our family websit at geni.com that family can see but it will not load here....strange.

Then yesterday on her real birthday we took her to the mall and had a fun time. She and Colby got to play on the playground there which they thought was great! We sang Happy Birthday to her many times and she clapped at the end every time. She is such a cutie. Michelle is stopped all the time in the mall as everyone loves her big blue eyes. Every time Colby says That is MY sister. He is very proud of her. Of course Colby loves to talk to everyone. He tells everyone his name. That boy loves to talk. And since he is doing it we love it.

Yesterday I found out the 29th is also the 3 year anniversary of the big hurricane in New Orleans, McCain and Michael Jackson's birthday. I guess she is destined for greatness. :) Of course we know that as a child of God she for sure is!!!

I guess our next family birthday is Carlees in Sept.
