A Christmas Miracle

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!!

What a special time of the year this is as we set aside the time to appreciate Jesus birth. Yes, I know people speculate on the exact date of HIS birth and that is fine with me. I think it is important that we set aside a day to set out our mangers and focus on what God did in sending His son, Jesus Christ, to be born and then die for our sins. I love that we have a special church service on Christmas Eve to sing about HIM and what He did for us.

It was such fun watching the grandbabies open gifts and seeing their excitement. Colby has quite the personality these days. He carries on such deep conversations and engages everyone he can in these conversations. Melissa loves to flit around everyone smiling unless they try to pick her up - that right is reserved for very few - mostly her mommy. William’s job this year was looking so innocent, sweet, and peaceful - as only a newborn can. He did such an excellent job at it. Everyone so enjoyed loving on him! What a special blessing he is for 2008.

The biggest blessing was watching my parents enjoying everyone this Christmas Eve and joining me at church. Less than a week ago as I drove my father to the hospital, hoping we would make it the whole way, we had no idea the impact life giving blood would play. His various Drs. had not picked up on the fact that dad’s energy was seeping out through the lack of blood. Due to that fact it brought on so much angina dad had to use nitro all the time. What a graphic illustration of the importance of blood. They had to search high and low for his blood type - due to the antibodies in his blood. For sure I will be donating blood this year as I so appreciate whoever gave for him. Just as the shedding of Jesus blood brought eternal life for those who accept Him, once again, blood brought life to my father. First as he accepted the gift of salvation and now the gift of life through blood. You could not get me down this Christmas at all. I virtually saw a Christmas miracle as my dad responded to the gift of the blood. His color is so good and he feels like walking and entering in. I need nothing more this Christmas than that. What a blessed person I am.

2008 has been a year packed with a wide range of emotions. William’s birth and my dad’s new lease on life have brought such joy and in the same year we lost two close family members which has brought deep grief. Through it all God remains constant.


On a lighter side I have to note some of the cute things Colby has said as we all gathered together.
He was waving with his hands and saying “EVERYONE come see my presents”,
“Carlee, I have Polar Express and tomorrow I will bring it and watch it with you”,
“I have Wall-e underwear on - do you want to see?” (as he was indicating he would pull his pants down but his mom jumped up and said NO).

He continually cracks us up with his energy and his vocabulary.

This year Michelle brought a cake for Jesus to our get together. She had birthday caps and everything. It was so cute and I loved how much cousins Rachael and Melissa got into the fun.
